220067 In die Seele des Soldaten blicken - Psychohistorie in der Antike? (S) (SoSe 2013)

Immer wieder hat man versucht, bestimmte anthropologische Grundphänomene wie Todesangst oder Exstasefähigkeit auch in antiken Quellen wiederzuerkennen und mit modernen psychologischen Kategorien (und Krankheitsbildern) in Beziehung zu setzen. Dies wirft allerdings erhebliche methodische und theoretische Probleme auf. Das Seminar will die Möglichkeiten und Grenzen des psychohistorischen Zugriffs auf antike Gegebenheiten am Beispiel des Themas Krieg und Schamanismus austesten. Dazu ist es notwendig, zumindest eines der u.g. Bücher von J. Shay und das Werk von E.R. Dodds im Vorfeld zu studieren.
