Diese Lehveranstaltung bietet eine Einführung in die Sprachen der Welt. Im Vordergrund stehen die Ausdrucksmittel der Informationsstruktur, d.h. die Möglichkeiten eine sprachliche Äußerung an einen Kontext anzupassen. Dieser Bereich umfasst eine Reihe von verschiedenen morphologischen (z. B. Topiksuffixe), syntaktischen (z. B. Wortstellung) sowie prosodischen (z. B. Fokusakzent) Phänomenen. Die StudentInnen werden die Möglichkeit haben, eine Sprache auszusuchen, und eine eigene Studie über die relevanten Phänomene dieser Sprache durchzuführen.
