In dem Seminar geht es um den „Raum für Bildung" und von „neuen" Lernorten im lebenslangen Lernen. Städte, Museen, Medien, Erlebniswelten, Betriebe, Reisen etc. werden unter dem Konzept der Lernkulturen betrachtet. Es soll ein Verständnis entwickelt werden, was Lernkulturen überhaupt sind und wie sie sich entwickeln lassen. Dabei soll die Bedeutung von Lernkulturen im Kontext vom Lebenslangen Lernen aufgezeigt werden und eine kritische Auseinandersetzung mit „alten“ und „neuen“ Lernkulturen erfolgen. Auch Fragen der Ästhetik und Lernarchitekturen als pädagogisches Handeln werden in den Blick genommen.
