This course will focus on Britain since 1945, introducing you to the most important developments that have taken place in British society, politics, and cultures since the end of the Second World War right up to the present. Given the importance of the legacies of early industrialization and the Empire, these two topics, though pre-dating 1945, will also be considered. In this way the course will give you some grounding for the subsequent in-depth pursuit of individual topics dealt with rather summarily here.
The relevant reading material will be made available at the start of the semester
