Karl Marx' Hauptwerk "Das Kapital", zuerst erschienen 1867, wird oft als die beste und zugleich als politisch-gesellschaftlich wirkungsmächtigste sozialwissenschaftliche Gesellschaftsanalyse des 19. Jahrhunderts angesehen. Es geht um drei Leitfragen: Warum ist die moderne kapitalistische Gesellschaft im Unterschied zur vormodernen Gesellschaft so dynamisch? Warum ist ihr Reichtum so ungleich verteilt? Welche theoretische Tendenz nimmt die kapitalistische Entwicklung? Die Veranstaltung setzt an mit den Grundbegriffen der Marxschen Politischen Ökonomie und führt dann weiter auf die Leitfragen des "Kapital".
