Die Analyse von Genomen setzt in der Regel voraus, dass die Gene des Organismus gefunden werden. Hierfür gibt es eine Vielzahl verschiedener Programme mit teilweise sehr unterschiedlichen Ansätzen. Da alle weiteren Auswertungen eines Genoms auf der Basis der in der Genvorhersage bestimmten Gene beruhen, haben fehlende oder falsch vorhergesagte Gene einen entscheidenden Einfluss auf zukünftige Experimente. In dem Seminar soll neben einem Marktüberblick auch ein kritischer Blick auf bereits durchgeführte Annotationsprojekte, hier besonders die Gen-Vorhersage, vermittelt werden.
