Organisationen sind zentrale Akteure der modernen Gesellschaft mit denen wir tagtäglich zu tun haben. Die organisationale Vielfalt der Gesellschaft, etwa in Form von Krankenhäusern, Museen, Parteien, religiösen Gemeinschaften, Schulen, Sportvereinen, Universitäten, Unternehmen, Verwaltungen u.v.a.m, bietet ein reichhaltiges soziologisches Untersuchungsfeld. Im Rahmen der Veranstaltung wird es vornehmlich darum gehen, wie man solche Organisationen praktisch erforschen kann. Zum einen werden in der Veranstaltung exemplarische Studien gelesen und im Hinblick auf ihr methodisches Vorgehen analysiert. Zum anderen werden qualitative Vorgehensweise zur Erforschung von Organisationen erörtert. Dadurch werden die Studierenden in die Lage versetzt, im Verlauf der Veranstaltung selbst kleinere empirische Fallstudien über Organisationen zu erstellen. Vorkenntnisse in der Organisationssoziologie und/oder qualitativen Methoden sind von Vorteil.
