Nach einem kurzen Überblick über den Weiterbildungssektor in Deutschland erfolgt eine Einführung in die historische Entwicklung der Qualitätsdiskussion in der Weiterbildung seit den 1970er Jahren bis heute. Wir setzen uns mit dem Qualitätsbegriff auseinander und lernen sowohl komplexe Qualitätssicherungs- und -managementsysteme kennen (z.B. TQM und EFQM), beschäftigen uns mit Qualitätsnormen im Bildungsbereich und mit konkreten Instrumenten (z.B. Evaluation). Ein zentraler Aspekt wird die Betrachtung spezieller Methoden zur Qualitätsentwicklung wie Benchmarking sein, das den Aspekt des voneinander und miteinander Lernens in den Vordergrund stellt.
Die Einsetzbarkeit in den verschiedenen praktischen Kontexten wird diskutiert und kritisch beleuchtet.
