Die Gesellschaft des klassischen Griechenland blieb – auch im demokratischen Athen – stark segmentiert. Wer ist Bürger? Kann man von Bürgerinnen sprechen? Haben einzelne Berufsgruppen eine gemeinsame Identität? Wie ist das Rollenverständnis der Griechen? Es besteht Gelegenheit, für einen Seminarschein ein Referat zu halten und eine Hausarbeit zu erarbeiten.
Die Veranstaltung hat auch praktische Teile, in denen es um die Visualisierung sozialer, politischer und demographischer Sachverhalte gehen soll. Graphiken und Karten sollen am Computer erarbeitet werden, um das klassische Athen besser verständlich zu machen.
