Die Vorlesung Kognitronik befasst sich mit der Entwicklung mikroelektronischer Schaltungen zur ressourceneffizienten Realisierung kognitiver Systeme. Ziel ist es, technische Produkte mit kognitiven Fähigkeiten auszustatten, so dass diese neben einer erhöhten Funktionalität insbesondere sicherer und benutzerfreundlicher werden.
Vorbilder für kognitronische Systeme haben sich in der Natur im Verlauf der biologischen Evolution in großer Anzahl entwickelt. Es liegt daher nahe, biologische Informationsverarbeitungsprinzipien auf technische Systeme zu übertragen. Behandelt werden die Analyse der theoretischen Leistungsfähigkeit und die integrationsgerechte Umsetzung derartiger Prinzipien.
