Mit der These der "reduzierten Selbstverständlichkeiten" wird darauf verwiesen, dass Kinder und Jugendliche über Familie und Schule besonders in Bezug auf Erziehung und Bildung kaum noch das mit auf den Weg bekommen, was sie für gelingende Lebensbewältigung in der Wissensgesellschaft benötigen. Im Seminar wird es darum gehen, diese These anhand ausgewählter Literatur zu überprüfen. Zudem werden die möglichen Konsequenzen zu diskutieren sein, die auf Lehrerinnen und Lehrer zukommen, wenn Schule auf die "reduzierten Selbstverständlichkeiten" reagieren will.

Die regelmäßige Teilnahme an den ausgewiesenen Sitzungen wird als verbindlich vorausgesetzt. Die Bescheinigung einer Studienleistung bzw. Aktiven Teilnahme erfolgt durch die Gestaltung bzw. Bearbeitung einzelner Seminarschwerpunkte in Kleingruppen und einer Präsentation der Ergebnisse im Plenum. BiWi-Studierenden wird zudem die Möglichkeit eingeräumt, ein max. 20 minütiges Referat (plus schriftlicher Ausarbeitung im Umfang von 6-8 Seiten) zu Erbringung ihrer benoteten Modulprüfung zu halten. Darüber hinaus können BiWi-Studierende (HRGe!!) ihre Leistung auch in Form einer schriftlichen Hausarbeit im Umfang von 10-15 Seiten erbringen.
