230809 Englisch: English Grammar Workshop, level B1 and higher (S) (WiSe 2012/2013)

Contents, comment

Is the grammar of English a 'black box' for you?

English has a reputation of being an easy language to learn, and it is indeed an easy language 'to get into'. But in the desire to start speaking the language as early as possible it is often neglected to lay a solid structural foundation. And in regular language courses, there is often not enough time for dealing with grammar questions. Although there are numerous resources for grammar work available on the Internet, it may be hard to work with them autonomously.

This course sets out to remedy that. We'll study grammar in context, explain how it works, deal with fossilized mistakes, and apply the patterns in speaking and writing.

Requirements for participation, required level

Successful completion of Englisch für leicht Fortgeschrittene (level A2.2) or C-Test of the Language Center (for dates please see http://www.uni-bielefeld.de/fachsprachenzentrum/tests.html)
