Auf der Basis eines anthropologischen Kulturbegriffs und mit Methoden der Gesprächsanalyse sollen die potenziellen Auswirkungen kultureller Verschiedenheit auf sprachlich-kommunikatives Handeln erarbeitet und diskutiert werden. Ein Schwerpunkt liegt dabei den Prozessen der Konstruktion von kultureller Differenz insbesondere in interkulturellen Kontaktsituationen.
