Die Vorlesung führt in die wichtigsten Fragestellungen und Methoden der germanistischen Linguistik ein. Neben den Kerngebieten – Phonologie, Morphologie, Syntax, Semantik – werden grundlegenden Theorien zum Zeichenmodell, zur Graphematik sowie zur Diskurs- und Textanalyse vorgestellt.
Für Studierende des Faches "Sprachliche Grundbildung" gehört zur Vorlesung eine Übung.
