Diese Lehrveranstaltung beschäftigt sich vor allem mit den linguistischen Teildisziplinen der Phonetik und Phonologie. Während der Gegenstand der Phonetik die artikulatorische Beschreibung und physikalische Messung der Laute unabhängig ihres Sprachsystems ist, stehen in der Phonologie die lautlichen Strukturen als Einheiten im System einer Einzelsprache im Vordergrund. Die Erkenntnisse dieser eher theoretischen Überlegungen und Modellierungen werden anschließend auf den Themenbereich der Orthografie übertragen und es wird untersucht, wie/inwiefern sich Regeln der Rechtschreibung auf grammatische Grundlagen rückbeziehen lassen. Hier entstehen Berührungspunkte mit der Phonologie, aber auch der Morphologie und Syntax.
