220042 Kolonisation / Kolonialismus vom Mittelalter bis zur Moderne, Teil 2 (GK II) (SoSe 2022)

Contents, comment

Dauer und Wandel von historischen Phänomenen wie Kolonien und Kolonialreichen sollen im epochenübergreifenden Blick thematisiert werden. Mittelalterliche Kontinuitäten von Eroberung, Besiedlung und Mission sowie neuzeitliche Dynamiken der Expansion und des Imperialismus können im diachronen Vergleich eine vormoderne und moderne Andersartigkeit aufzeigen. Europäische koloniale Gesellschaften, die resultierenden Verflechtungen von globalen Räumen und die Rückwirkungen auf den sog. Westen werden in ihrem wechselvollen Verhältnis zueinander betrachtet. Im Zentrum der zweisemestrigen Veranstaltung stehen die Schriftquellen, bildlichen Darstellungen und nichttextlichen Hinterlassenschaften dieser grundlegenden Beziehungen.
