Invariant theory studies group actions on algebraic varieties by their induced actions on polynomial functions.

This lecture will contain:

  • invariants of finite group actions,
  • invariants of algebraic group actions,
  • and the construction of quotients in algebraic geometry.

Depending on the interests of the participants, further specific topics can be covered. Prerequisite for this lecture is some familiarity with commutative algebra and basic algebraic geometry.
