Oscar Wilde belongs to the most famous British writers and his plays are still being performed on stages all over the world. In this class we will study his dramatic work in the context of his colourful life and the exciting literary, philosophical and historical context in which his plays were produced. Thus, the course is designed as an introduction both to his work and British culture of the late 19th century.

You should have completed the course "Analysing and Interpreting Literary Texts" (British or American) and Social and Cultural Studies (Britain).

A collection of texts will be made available at the beginning of term.
