239987 Sprachverarbeitung in der Kommunikation: Language and Cognition (S) (SoSe 2012)

Contents, comment

This is a research seminar in which master's students, PhDs, and Postdocs of the Language and Cognition group present their ongoing research or topical research papers. The seminar focuses on non-linguistic influences on online language (sentence) comprehension. Among the topics will be the use of speaker eye gaze in language comprehension, the effects of temporal cues on language comprehension, and visual context influences on child and adult language comprehension. We will further discuss other recent trends in language and cognition as exemplified by key publications in the literature.

There will be 1-2 articles as a set reading for each meeting. Participants will give an oral presentation on their own research or one of the readings, and hand in a short written report of their presentation. At the end of the course, students should be able to critically review and discuss language comprehension experiments.
