In this broad introduction to creative writing, students will experiment with various sorts of prose fiction and creative non-fiction, as well as - time permitting - exploring some subgenres of poetry and drama. In addition to providing a forum for committed and hard-working participants to work intensively at their own writing skills, the seminar should interest future teachers alert to the rich potential of creative writing in teaching language and literature.
The seminar is open to any student of English who enjoys creative writing, or would like to try it - provided there is enough space in the room. Please note, though, that students in the new BA (2011-2012 onwards) can only get credit for the seminar if it becomes part of Vertiefungsmodul 6 (which is not yet being offered). However, this is a course that tends to attract people who participate solely for the pleasure of writing and being with like-minded individuals - and that is what gives the class its soul and energy.
Will be presented in class and online.
