What is Unreliable Narration? How can the concept be handled unser-friendly, how can it be applied to literature and film?
After having taken a close look at the theory of Unreliable Narration the course will analyze short stories, extracts from novels, whole novels as well as movies, e.g. short stories by E.A. Poe, Nabokov's Lolita, Ellis' Glamorama, Pi, Naked Lunch, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and others.
3 CPs: presentation (~30-45 min) + short summary of it OR
term paper (~10-15 pp.)
Please read "Glamorama" by Bret Easton Ellis before the semester starts. The novel is quite long - to avoid too much reading during the semester, better do it beforehand.
The movies will be shown on Wednesday evenings from 6-8 p.m. Concrete dates will be published in the first meeting. Please make sure you have the time to watch them.
Most texts will be provided on the Stud.IP or in a reader.
