- Sensing: Evanescent field and waveguide configurations for sensing
- Trapping: How it works, limits, and advantages
- Lab: Making slab waveguides, coupling light into them, characterization
- Simulation/demonstration: Comsol Multiphysics for computing the modes of a waveguide

This course will include simulations and lab demonstrations
