Ideen und Konzepte zur Umsetzung von Ganztagsschulen gibt es viele. Nimmt man die These ernst, dass hier die außerschulische Pädagogik im Vordergrund steht (vgl. Fuchs 2006), wirft das Fragen zur Planung und Gestaltung (nicht nur) von Unterricht auf. Gerade im Hinblick auf ein ganztägiges Bildungsverständnis und die Ausgestaltung von (kommunalen) Bildungslandschaften, scheint alles bisher dagewesene obsolet. Welche Probleme tauchen hier (möglicherweise) auf? Welche Lösungen bieten sich an? Welche Konsequenzen hat das auf das Berufsbild LehrerIn? Zentrales Element des Seminars ist es, verschiedene Themenkomplexe rund um die Ganztagsschule aufzugreifen und die Aspekte die sich mit Ganztagsbildung und Bildungslandschaften verbinden auf der Grundlage ausgewählter Literatur zu diskutieren. Die Bescheinigung einer Studienleistung erfolgt u.a. durch die Gestaltung einzelner Seminarsitzungen durch Diskussionsmoderation, Kurzinputs oder Präsentationen mit schriftlicher Ausarbeitung.
