Mehr als den traditionellen oder analogen Medien wird den sog. neuen oder digitalen Medien zugetraut, dass sie das individuelle Lernen, das Selbstlernen oder gar das autonome Lernen fördern. Dabei werden selten die spezifischen Charakteristika und die damit verbundenen lerntheoretischen und didaktischen Potentiale dieser Medien reflektiert. Häufig wird etwa multimedialen Anwendungen schlicht ein Lernvorteil unterstellt. Im Seminar werden spezifische Merkmale digitaler Medien wie Multimodalität und -codalität, Formen der Interaktivität und des Feedback und deren Lernpotentiale thematisiert. Vor diesem Hintergrund werden exemplarisch Einsatzmöglichkeiten unterschiedlicher Medientypen (Lernmaterialien, Lernprogramme, Webangebote, Autorenprogramme etc.) im Unterricht für Deutsch als Fremdsprache erkundet.
