Eine beliebte These zur Kulturgeschichte der Neuzeit ist: Die kulturellen Differenzierungen und Pluralisierungen nehmen zu. Das klingt nicht unplausibel. Andererseits: Ist es nicht so, dass uns die Verhältnisse umso einfacher vorkommen, je weniger wir wissen und je ferner historische Epochen sind? Prüfen Sie sich einmal selbst: Was wissen Sie zu ‚den Griechen‘? Wie stark differenziert sich für Sie ‚das Mittelalter‘? Und was verbinden Sie mit ‚dem Barock‘? Ich wette: Dreißigjähriger Krieg und ‚Vanitas‘. Das sind die Stichworte, die Ihnen von der Schule her vielleicht noch geblieben sind.
Das Seminar will in diese allzu einfachen Vorstellungen ein wenig Bewegung bringen, indem wir ganz bescheiden und Sitzung für Sitzung Gedichte verschiedener Autoren und ‚Macharten‘ möglichst genau anschauen. Dabei werden auch grundlegende Fragen angesprochen (Barock – eine Epoche? Was ist Poetik? Was ist Rhetorik? Was ist Emblematik? Welche Literaturlandschaften gibt es?). Und es wird Seitenblicke in Kunst, Architektur und Musik geben.

Bereitschaft, aktiv mitzuarbeiten. Bereitschaft, zu den eigenen Vorkenntnissen und Vorstellungen in ein kritisch reflektierendes Verhältnis kommen u wollen.
