Ducrot is perhaps the most important French linguist, but due to a lack of translations only little known beyond France.
Should your research involve the analysis and close reading of texts or transcribed conversations, this course might be of interst to you. We will read and discuss Oswald Ducort´s Slovenian Lectures, the only systematic account in English of his perspective on the uses of language, the force and direction of arguments and their inherently dialogical or polyphonic architecture.
Ducrot´s lectures will be made available in the Lernraum
