Von der Freiheit sprechen sowohl Politiker:innen als auch andere Personen des öffentlichen Lebens gern und häufig. Es ist ein starker Begriff, hinter den wir uns eigentlich alle versammeln können: Natürlich sind wir für die Freiheit; die individuelle, die religiöse, die Freiheit der Kunst und die der Presse. Aber gleichzeitig wird die Freiheit auch in Situationen argumentativ herangezogen, wo sie doch eigentlich nichts zu suchen hat. Vielleicht sollten wir uns der Freiheit deswegen einmal neu nähern, sie auch als poetische Herausforderung begreifen. Es wird vorrangig um drei Texte gehen, die im Seminar besprochen und dabei v. a. im Verhältnis des Subjekts und seines Selbst-Verständnisses zur Freiheit betrachtet werden: Friedrich Schillers ‚Die Räuber‘, George Orwells ‚1984‘ und Virginia Woolfs ‚A room of ones own‘. Weitere Lektürevorschläge und -wünsche Ihrerseits sind herzlich willkommen.
