230623 Cultures in Process (S) (WiSe 2006/2007)

Contents, comment

In this colloquium, students and teachers of the Master of Arts program in British and American Studies will engage theoretically with the program's thematic focus "Cultures in Process." We will discuss positions from literary studies, cultural studies, linguistics, post-colonial studies, history, sociology, and philosophy to examine and discuss concepts of cultural encounter such as transculturation, hybridity, transdifference or contact zones. Selected positions will be presented by invited specialists. Our aim in this colloquium is to lay the foundation for the development of an innovative position within this complex theoretical field that foregrounds the concept of "process."
