Die SWS berechnen sich nach folgender Aufschlüsselung: 3 SWS - Grundkurs; 2 SWS - Tutorium; 1 SWS - Exkursion.

Wozu Helden? Unter dieser Leitfrage will der Grundkurs einem Personentypus nachforschen, der auf den ersten Blick überzeitliche Relevanz für die Geschichte der Menschheit zwischen Homer und Hybridauto zu zeigen scheint. Helden gibt es viele: Helden der Arbeit und des Alltags, der Schlachten und des Sports. Ihnen allen ist gemeinsam, dass sie Identifikationspotenziale schaffen; nicht nur für den Einzelnen, sondern für ganze Gruppen, Gemeinschaften, ja sogar Staaten. Im Grundkurs wird uns vor allem die Erinnerung an Helden und deren geschichtskulturelle Funktionen interessieren.

Der Grundkurs wird begleitet durch ein obligatorisches Tutorium (zwei Gruppen, Termine werden in der ersten Sitzung bekannt gegeben). Ebenfalls obligatorisch ist die Teilnahme an zwei Exkursionstagen: 1.) zur Ausstellung „Helden. Von der Sehnsucht nach dem Besonderen“ im Museum Zeche Henrichshütte (Hattingen) am 29. Oktober 2010. 2.) Wanderung zum Arminius-Denkmal im Teutoburgerwald am 8. Juli 2011.
