In politischen Prozessen wird häufig auf wissenschaftliches Wissen verwiesen, wenn bestimmte Positionen legitimiert, wenn bestimmte Entscheidungen durchgesetzt werden sollen. Wie wird dieses Wissen aber ausgesucht? Wer wird zum angesehenen Experten, wessen Wissen wird im politischen Prozess nicht verwendet? Wie wirkt die politische Verwendung des vornehmlich wissenschaftlichen Wissens auf die Wissensproduktion zurück? Solche und ähnliche Fragen werden anhand klassischer Texte zum Wissen im Kontext regulativer Politik behandelt.
Das Seminar führt in die Grundzüge regulativer Politik ein und bietet einen Überblick über einen historisch wichtigen Diskussionsstrang der Wissenschaftsforschung (Science and Technology Studies), nämlich Regulierungswissen. Da ein Großteil der Literatur nur in englischer Sprache vorliegt, kann man sich in der Lektüre englischsprachiger Texte üben.
