The focus of this class lies on the phonetics and phonology of US-American Englishes and English spoken in Canada and the Caribbean. Not only will we look at the phonotactics of GenAm but also at regional differences and changes, such as Southern American English, the Northern Cities Shift, the English spoken in Philadelphia and New York.
Due to the special circumstances this semester poses, this course will (mostly) be an asynchronous online course starting on April 22nd!

The binding module descriptions contain further information, including specifications on the "types of assignments" students need to complete. In cases where a module description mentions more than one kind of assignment, the respective member of the teaching staff will decide which task(s) they assign the students.
