Texte und Bilder haben einen großen Anteil an der sozialen Ordnung unseres Alltags, seien es Hinweisschilder, Zeitschriftenartikel, Privatfotografien, Memes, Internetblogs oder Banner auf Demonstrationen. Ziel dieses Kurses soll es sein, Fertigkeiten zu vermitteln, anhand derer die diesen Artefakten eigene soziale Ordnungsleistung untersucht werden kann.
Die empirische Praxis soll Ihnen Gelegenheit bieten, wesentliche Fertigkeiten der qualitativen Forschung zu erwerben und einzuüben. Anhand des Rahmenthemas werden Sie Texte und Bilder sammeln, die die Thematisierung von Natur im weitesten Sinne zum Fokus haben. Diese Daten bilden Ihr Korpus, das Sie im Verlauf des Kurses aufbereiten und in Ansätzen analysieren werden, um schließlich verschiedene Formen der Ergebnisdarstellung einzuüben.
Als empirische Praxis bietet Ihnen der Kurs die Möglichkeit, einen, drei oder vier Leistungspunkte zu erwerben. Bitte beachten Sie, dass der Kurs kumulativ aufgebaut ist, da die einzelnen Arbeitsschritte sich bedingen; das heißt, dass Sie zwar nach dem ersten Block aufhören, aber nicht nur den dritten Block besuchen und dort einen Punkt erwerben können.

Das Seminar findet als Distance Learning Format statt. Es verknüpft synchrone (Webkonferenz) und asynchrone (Selbststudium) Elemente. Die synchronen Treffen finden zu den ausgewiesenen Kurszeiten statt.

Sie sollten ein Grundverständnis der Prozesse in der qualitativen Forschung bereits erworben haben.
Vorausgesetzt wird außerdem die Bereitschaft, in Arbeitsgruppen eigenverantwortlich Daten zu erheben und zu bearbeiten. Sie sind selbst dafür zuständig, innerhalb der Arbeitsgruppen die anfallenden Aufgaben gerecht aufzuteilen und Zeitpläne zu erstellen und einzuhalten.
