Homers Odyssee, das zweitälteste Werk der griechischen und damit der "abendländischen" Literatur überhaupt, vermag noch den heutigen Leser unmittelbar zu fesseln. Um dem Epos gerecht werden zu können. gilt es gleichwohl seinen kulturellen Entstehungskontext im Auge zu behalten, Ein weiterer Schwerpunkt der ersten Seminarhälfte wird die narratologische Raffinesse der Odyssee bilden. In der zweiten Hälfte wird dann die Rezeption im Vordergrund stehen, die Homers Epos in der zweiten Hälfte des 20. Jahrhunderts in Italien erfahren hat. Drei verschiedene Medien sollen behandelt werden. Die Oper Ulisse von Luigi Dallapiccola (1968), der Odysseeverfilmung von Franco Rossi (1970) und der Roman Itaca per sempre (deutsch: König Ohneschuh) von Luigi Malerba (1997).

(Wer mag, kann sich natürlich auch eine altgriechische bzw. italienische Ausgabe anschaffen).
