Das Seminar führt in einer sprachvergleichenden und historischen Perspektive in die Morphologie des Deutschen ein. Besonderheiten des Nominal- und des Verbalsystems sowie der Wortbildung werden zunächst in synchroner, dann in diachroner Perspektive dargestellt und (in ihren Gemeinsamkeiten und Unterschieden) zu anderen indoeuropäischen Sprachen in Beziehung gesetzt. Die Teilnehmer sollen Kategorien und Techniken der interlinearen Glossierung und der distributionellen Analyse morphologischer Formen kennen und selbständig anwenden lernen.
