In diesem Seminar werden verschiedene Aspekte der Migration im lateinamerikanischen Kontext behandelt. Wir werden uns anschauen, wie zeitgenössische Migrationsmuster im Laufe der Geschichte geformt wurden, zum Beispiel im Kontext der Migration von Mexiko in die USA oder von Ecuador nach Spanien. Wir werden auch den Zusammenhang zwischen verschiedenen Formen von Migration und globalen, regionalen und nationalen wirtschaftlichen und politischen Entwicklungen untersuchen. Zwei von vielen Beispielen sind die Mobilität lateinamerikanischer Migrant*innen in der EU (die Spanien nach der Krise verlassen haben) sowie die sich ändernden Migrationsmuster zwischen Kolumbien und Venezuela.

Erste Vorkenntnisse über das Thema Migration sind von Vorteil aber keine Voraussetzung für die Teilnahme. Es wird jedoch erwartet, dass Studierende in Vorbereitung der Sitzungen die angegebenen Texte (teils auch in englischer Sprache) lesen und sich aktiv an den Diskussionen während der Treffen via Zoom beteiligen.

a) Studienleistung: Entwicklung und Bearbeitung einer Fragestellung nach Wahl mit Bezug auf das Thema des Seminars. Individuelles Erstellen eines Posters und schriftliche oder mündliche Reflektion des Posters.
b) Prüfungsleistung (benotet): Hausarbeit, ca. 10 Seiten, individuell verfasst, die sich mit einem Thema des Seminars beschäftigt (nach Absprache), Abgabetermin: 30.09.2021
