This seminar investigates two fundamental questions of sociology. First, we analyze micro-macro links by asking how structural conditions can explain structural outcomes mediated by actor behavior at the individual level. Second, we elaborate on the microfoundations of sociology and how different assumptions about actors and theories of action affect the predicted structural outcomes. We will read theoretical and empirical contributions including “classical” papers and more recent work showing the current developments in the field.
