In the first part of this course you will be made familiar with sociology´s basic concepts, while the second part will concentrate on different theoretical attempts to understand modern society (field theory, rational choice, system´s theory, and discourse-analysis) and also take a look at some of sociology´s technically more elaborate subfields (conversation analysis, network analysis, and game theory).

The binding module descriptions contain further information, including specifications on the "types of assignments" students need to complete. In cases where a module description mentions more than one kind of assignment, the respective member of the teaching staff will decide which task(s) they assign the students.
For a "Studienleistung" you should give a presentation in class; for the "Prüfungsleistung" you need to hand in an essay of around 15 pages, possibly based on your presentation.
