230610 Division, Segregation and Discrimination in US Professional Sport (StGr) (SoSe 2019)

For the past 100+ years, professional sports and the respective sports leagues have been on a steady and seemingly endless rise. Unfortunately, political and historical segregation (in terms of division and discrimination practiced in a variety of ways) have always been part and parcel of professional sports and continue to haunt them. We want to have a closer look at these issues over the years in the biggest US sports leagues, their milestones and protagonists, as well as consider what the future might hold, based on more current events.

Teilnahmevoraussetzungen, notwendige Vorkenntnisse

Students doing Internationalisation at Home can earn three credit points for participating actively in the Study Group. Naturally, students who do not need credit for Int@Home can also attend simply from personal interest.
Please note that Study Groups are organised entirely by students with students for students, and live from the active input of all participants.
