Der Kurs ist als ergänzende Hilfe zur Veranstaltung "Einführung in die Informatik" für diejenigen gedacht, die bisher nicht oder kaum mit einem Computer gearbeitet haben. Der Kurs vermittelt Programmierfähigkeiten anhand einfacher Pascal-Aufgaben, die von den Studierenden am Computer gelöst werden müssen, und geht kurz auf die Handhabung einer zeichenorientierten Benutzeroberfläche ein (MS-DOS). Diese Fähigkeiten werden in einigen Veranstaltungen des BA-Studiums Wirtschaftswissenschaften und später im MA-Studium benötigt.
