In den "Fasti", Ovids Lehrgedicht über den römischen Festkalender, tritt der Autor als Student auf, der sein Wissen gerade erst von Göttern, Sachverständigen und Menschen erworben hat und einen Überblick gibt über ein verwirrendes und verworrenes Netzwerk der Tempelgründungstage, Altareinweihungsjubiläen, Schlachten- und Kaisergedenktage sowie der eigentlichen kultischen Festtage (vgl. Fink, Ovid Fasti, S. 351.).
Im Seminar werden wir uns u.a. mit der Gattung Lehrgedicht beschäftigen, der Darstellung verschiedener Götter, mit Ovids Humor und seiner Intention.

Texte, Kommentare und Übersetzungen stehen im Semesterapparat zur Verfügung.
Die Textgrundlage ist die Teubner-Ausgabe von Alton, die ich nur Liebhabern zur Anschaffung empfehle. Gleiches gilt für die zweisprachige Tusculum-Ausgabe von N. Holzberg.
