„Unerhörte Begebenheit“? „Indirekte Subjektivität“? „Wendepunkt“? „Silhouette“? „Schwester des Dramas“? „Rahmen“? „Mittelpunkt“? „Einzelfall“? „Fügung des Geschicks“? Diesen gattungstheoretischen Stichpunkten, von Goethe bis Musil, gilt es, in den ersten Sitzungen nachzuspüren. Anschließend sollen ausgewählte Novellen (nicht nur auf die erarbeiteten Kriterien hin) untersucht werden.
Textvorschläge der Teilnehmenden werden in der ersten Sitzung gerne angenommen; zur Inspiration folgende Auswahl:
Goethe: Unterhaltungen deutscher Ausgewanderten“ (1775) / Kleist: Michael Kohlhaas (1810) / Goethe: Novelle (1828) / Büchner: Lenz (1839) / von Droste-Hülshoff: Die Judenbuche (1842) / Hauptmann: Bahnwärter Thiel (1888) / Schnitzler: Leutnant Gustl (1900) / T. Mann: Der Tod in Venedig (1912) / Kafka: Die Verwandlung (1915) / Schnitzler: Traumnovelle (1925) / Zweig: Schachnovelle (1942) / Walser: Ein fliehendes Pferd (1978) / Poschmann: Hundenovelle (2008).
