Schuldverhältnisse können sich einerseits aus Verträgen ergeben, andererseits kraft Gesetzes entstehen. Gegenstand der Veranstaltung sind die klausurrelevanten Institute. Dies schließt die Geschäftsführung ohne Auftrag (§§ 677 ff. BGB) ebenso ein wie die unerlaubte Handlung (§§ 823 ff. BGB), bis hin zur ungerechtfertigten Bereicherung (§§ 812 ff. BGB).
