Diese Vorlesung behandelt vornehmlich das deutsche Ausländerrecht. Es geht dabei um Einreise und Aufenthalt von Ausländern, die nicht EU-Angehörige sind. Im Speziellen werden die verschiedenen Aufenthaltszwecke und –titel, die besonderen Fragen des Familiennachzugs und die aufenthaltsbeendenden Maßnahmen behandelt.
Weiterhin zählen zum Themenkomplex das deutsche Staatsangehörigkeitsrecht, insbesondere seine Einbürgerungstatbestände, die Rücknahme von Einbürgerungen und der Verlust der Staatsangehörigkeit.

Die Veranstaltung geht von der Teilnahme an der Weingartener Woche aus (s. Lehrstuhl Davy) und setzt die dort vermittelten Inhalte voraus.
Die Vorlesung zählt zum Schwerpunktbereich "Einwanderung und soziale Integration", steht aber grundsätzlich allen Interessierten offen.
