In Form eines kleinen Projekts können die Studierenden an aktueller Forschung im Bereich der Neurobiologie mitwirken oder grundlegende Experimente und Analysen weitgehend eigenständig durchführen.

Die Grundthematik der Projekte liegt im Bereich der Verarbeitung von visueller Information durch das Insektengehirn. Mittels Verhaltensbeobachtung und anschliessender quantitativer Anylse werden neuronale Mechanismen der Verhaltenssteuerung untersucht.
