In diesem Modul werden chemisch-ökologische Herangehensweisen zur Untersuchung von Ökosystemen vertiefend erarbeitet. Pflanzen haben verschiedene Strategien entwickelt sich gegen Feinde zu behaupten. Sekundäre Metaboliten spielen für die chemische Verteidigung eine entscheidende Rolle. Die Kosten solcher Verteidigung werden untersucht. Experimente, die Allelopathie, induzierte Abwehrmaßnahmen und den Einfluss von Elicitoren verdeutlichen und erklären, werden durchgeführt. Verschiedene Metaboliten werden aufgetrennt und chemisch-analytisch untersucht. Ermittelte Daten werden statistisch ausgewertet und die Ergebnisse in ökologischem Kontext diskutiert. Möglichkeiten des biologischen Pflanzenschutzes werden aufgezeigt. Benotete Endklausur.
