The program aims to connect students in Germany with students in the USA and other native English speaking countries over the internet and Skype. This semester we will be working with Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. In the beginning, the Class in Bielefeld, as a whole, must first prepare a interview packet for the student at Cornell, and then present this to the class in New York. Likewise, the Cornell class will prepare a packet for our class. Students will then correspond over Skype with members of the class in New York. The course is centered around a cultural exchange concept and therefore uses an interview format to accomplish the tandem.
There will be 4-5 planned tandem sessions and students are encouraged to continue their exchanges as homework. After the Christmas break, the course will meet during January to organize, present and organize material and information gathered through the process. The course has no exam, but students will be required to present a portfolio of video clips and a written summary of their experience with the project in English. 2 credit hours will be offered for this course.
