Beschreibungen der Ungleichheitsentwicklung und ihre Diskussion sind fester Bestandteil der sozialwissenschaftlichen Gesellschaftsbeobachtung. Sie haben in den letzten Jahren sogar erheblich an Bedeutung gewonnen. Wie soziale Ungleichheiten im individuellen Lebenslauf und unter den Bedingungen wirtschaftlichen und sozialen Wandel entstehen soll im Seminar zunächst anhand theoretisch-abstrakter Mechanismen der Ungleichheitsgenese (u.a. die „Klassiker“ Ausbeutung und Schließung, aber auch weitere Mechanismen wie Hierarchisierung und Stereotypisierung) diskutiert werden. Davon ausgehend fragen wir nach Möglichkeiten der empirischen Prüfung solcher Mechanismen anhand ausgewählter Beispiele neuerer Untersuchungen, insbesondere zu Statuserwerb und Einkommen.

Bedingungen für die Bestätigung aktiver Teilnahme:
1 kurze 5minütige mündliche Zusammenfassung der letzten Sitzung plus mindestens für die Hälfte aller Sitzungen kurze Exzerpte der zentralen Aussagen eines Basistexts (1-2) Seiten.
Bedingungen für den individuellen Leistungsnachweis:
Zusätzlich: Gestaltung eines Seminartermins mit mündlicher Präsentation und anschließender schriftlicher Ausarbeitung. Die schriftliche Ausarbeitung soll dabei auch die Diskussion im Seminar resümieren.
