Die Veranstaltung dient der Einführung in Begrifflichkeiten und Themenbereiche der Wissenschaftssoziologie. Was zeichnet wissenschaftliches Wissen aus, wie wird es hergestellt und wie wird es innerhalb und außerhalb der Wissenschaft kommuniziert? Thema des Seminars sind sowohl die Innenwelt der Wissenschaft, d.h. ihre kognitiven und sozialen Strukturen, als auch ihre Beziehung zur Gesellschaft und zu anderen Teilbereichen wie Wirtschaft, Politik und Medien.
Erwartet wird von den Teilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmern des Seminars die gründliche Lektüre der Literatur, die kontinuierliche Mitarbeit und die Übernahme eines Referats, sowie für den benoteten Leistungsnachweis die Anfertigung einer Hausarbeit.
