230503 Genres, Authors, Periods (S) (SoSe 2019)

This Basisseminar will provide an overview of the three main genres drama, poetry, and narrative prose using examples from crucial periods of British Literary History. The focus will lie on the analysis of
- one Elizabethan drama: William Shakespeare, Richard III
- two or three Romatic poems by William Wordsworth (to be announced in class)
- one 20th century novel: Kazuo Ishiguro, The Remains of the Day. Studienleistung will be three short essays on tasks from each genre.

Students are requested to read the two term-texts before the beginning of the term.
