230475 Genres, Authors, Periods (British Literature) (S) (SoSe 2019)

Inhalt, Kommentar

Analysing and Interpreting British Literary Texts will be taught by Prof. Schneider in one large class (i.e. a "lecture"). The advantage is that everyone will get a place. The disadvantage is is it will be a huge class and there will only be one of them on offer, so you have to attend this one lecture. In WS 2018/19 this will be on Monday 10-12. - The focus here will lie on terminology and methods; the Studienleistung will be a worksheet.

The British Studies Basisseminar BM 2.3 "Genres, Authors, Periods" will all be called "Genres, Authors, Periods", and they will provide the overview of the periods of British literary history and the main genres that we previously attempted in the old-style AILT classes. Each lecturer will give his or her BM 2.3 (or "GAP" as we will call them...) a personal focus (on poetry, drama or narrative prose), but they are all intended to be equivalent to each other, just like the old-style AILT courses. - The focus here will lie on reading texts more closely with the help of the tools you learn in the new AILT lecture. The Studienleistung will be (an) essay(s).

Students are strongly urged to make time for the corresponding tutorial, which offers support in the organization of studies, practices strategies of research and the formal requirements of academic work and repeats material presented in class.

Students on the priority list will have priority to fill up any places not taken in the first session. Everyone MUST be there in the first session to claim their place!
